Assessment and Testing Services

Our clinic offers a variety of psychology assessments in a virtual format, allowing you to access this service from the comfort of your own home no matter where you live in Newfoundland & Labrador

Traumatic Psychological Injury Assessment

This type of assessment is for individuals who have experienced a significant traumatic event and require evaluation of specific areas of functioning such as mental and emotional health, cognition, and readiness to engage in pre-incident activities.

These assessments are appropriate for anyone who has experienced a motor vehicle accident, or a workplace incident involving psychological injury.

These assessments can also be provided for military personnel, Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and first responders.

Psychological Assessment

This type of assessment is more in depth than a mental health screening and covers a wide range of psychological disorders that can impact mental health and well-being in the adult population.

Our first step is broad screening and an interview to consider all aspects of the person, followed by specific in-depth assessment tools that provide clinical data to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. These assessments can evaluate the presence of mood and anxiety disorders, stress and trauma-related disorders, and much more.

Psychoeducational Assessment

Whether your child's school has recommended this assessment or you are a parent/guardian with concerns you wish to explore, a psychoeducational assessment can shed light on your child's strengths and needs when it comes to learning and navigating the school environment.

Our process involves assessment of academic achievement, intellectual abilities and other factors that may be getting in the way of your child's success. Once the assessment is complete, you will receive a detailed report that includes specific recommendations for you and your child's school to increase support and facilitate growth.

ADHD Assessment

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurological disorder that impacts the parts of the brain that help us plan, focus on, and execute tasks. We offer comprehensive assessment of ADHD in children which includes evaluation of academic, intellectual, behavioral and emotional functioning.

Diagnosis of ADHD in adulthood is on the rise - current understandings of how the disorder presents in the adult population have changed significantly over recent years. Common symptoms in adults include difficulty with focus and concentration, disorganization, forgetfulness, procrastination, poor attention to detail, distractibility, losing track of belongings easily. At Deeply Rooted Psychological Services, we have extensive experience assessing and diagnosing Adult ADHD.

Behavioral
Assessment

Our clinic offers these assessments to better understand your child's challenging behavior but also their strengths and needs. We can identify and diagnosis behavioral disorders and offer specialized assessments to help determine level of risk when safety concerns are present.

Our behavioral assessments include  comprehensive recommendations to help set you on a path toward restoring calm and experiencing growth and change with your child.

Cognitive/Intellectual Ability Testing

We offer cognitive assessments for the purpose of determining the presence of an Intellectual Disability. Our team provides this type of testing for children, adolescents and adults and includes evaluation of adaptive skill development.

The resulting report can be used to access supportive programs such as AISH and PDD and can be used to apply for the disability tax credit.

Land Acknowledgement

Deeply Rooted Psychological Services is rooted in the ancestral homelands of the Beothuk, whose culture has now been erased forever. We also acknowledge the island of Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland) as the unceded, traditional territory of the Beothuk and the Mi'kmaq. And we acknowledge Labrador as the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Innu of Nitassinan, the Inuit of Nunatsiavut, and the Inuit of NunatuKavut. We recognize all First Peoples who were here before us, who live with us now, and the seven generations to come. As First Peoples have done since time immemorial, we strive to be responsible stewards of the land and to respect the cultures, ceremonies, and traditions of all who call Turtle Island home. As we open our hearts and minds to the past, we commit ourselves to working in a spirit of truth and reconciliation to make a better future for us all.
